The Centre is currently manned by an Administrator and two Technicians. The two Technicians are all amputees who have successfully undergone the prerequisite four months initial training and subsequent upgrading training at The Prostheses Foundation of H.R.H The Princess Mother in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

There were a few major events taken part by LFL Prostheses Centre in 2017:

24H Run from 21 to 22 January 2017

The above-mentioned event’s organizer, Gradise has graciously invited us again to join their annual event in which LFL Prostheses Centre is the sole beneficiary of all the funds collected during the said run. The Every KM Matters programme continued to support the LFL Prostheses Centre where RM 2.40 was raised for every KM achieved by the participants. The 2017 Run is the second consecutive year that 24H Run has contributed their donations to LFL Prostheses Centre. For 2017, the event was held at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang. A total amount of RM 23,090.15 was collected based on the total KM run of 9,620.90 but the final amount received by LFL Prostheses Centre was RM 23,330.40.


Berjaya Talk on “ASEAN SOLIDARITY TO END POVERTY BY CREATING SHARED PROSPERITY” on 9 May 2017

LFL Prostheses Centre was invited to attend a talk by Berjaya Cares in collaboration with Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. (GK) on the above-mentioned subject at Berjaya Times Square Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 9 May 2017. The talk was also attended by various NGOs.

GK is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty for 5 million families, by first restoring the dignity of the poor. Their vision is building a nation empowered by people with faith and patriotism; a nation made up of caring and sharing communities, dedicated to eradicate poverty and restore human dignity. By learning the strategies and model from GK, it could perhaps be of help to our own communities.


50th Anniversary : Golden Jubilee Celebration of Malaysian Orthopaedic Association & 47th Annual Scientific Meeting / Annual General Meeting 2017 from 19 to 21 May 2017

LFL Prostheses Centre was invited once again to participate and exhibit our products and services in this annual event at the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association’s Conference and Exhibition which was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 19 till 21 May 2017. Our main objective is to create awareness of our available services to the various visitors who are mainly doctors and hospital staffs whereby our brochures and application forms were distributed. Since the event was held in Kuala Lumpur, we also had a few of our volunteer doctors visiting our booth. Meanwhile we are receiving more and more applications referred by the hospitals and doctors for free artificial limbs.


INSOLE & PELITE TRAINING on 19 June 2017 for our Technicians

The above-mentioned one day training was held at Klinik Pakar Perubatan Rehab Pusat Kawalan Kusta Negara and was recommended and arranged by Dr. Akmal Hafizah Zamli from Hospital Sungai Buloh. The training was conducted by Encik Hashim Shuib and was attended by our two technicians, Muhammad Shafie Wahab and Paramasivam Ramachindran. Our technicians have benefitted from this training. They are able to make new pelite for those amputees who have torn theirs from their daily wear. Also, they are in the midst of making the first insoles for our patients who are in need of the insoles due to problematic foot pending the arrival of suitable materials.


Presentation of Aluminium Can Tabs to LFL Prostheses Centre by SMK Bukit Baru Melaka on 9 August 2017

LFL Prostheses Centre was invited by SMK Bukit Baru Melaka to attend the presentation of the collected aluminium can tabs on 9 August 2017. The tabs, totaling 132,000 pieces and weighing approximately 52kgs, were collected over a period of three years. Notwithstanding that The Prostheses Foundation and LFL Prostheses Centre no longer collect any can tabs for the manufacturing of prostheses, we accepted the can tabs in appreciation of the hard work put in by the teachers and students in their collection. During the presentation, we requested the local reporters who were present at the presentation to inform the public that we are no longer collecting the tabs for prostheses making. With the agreement of SMK Bukit Baru, we converted the aluminium can tabs collected to cash of RM 133.


Lions Club (KL Bukit Kiara) Diabetes, Blood Donation & Health Awareness Campaign on 26 November 2017

The above campaign was held from 25 to 26 November 2017 at 1 Shamelin Shopping Mall, Cheras by Lions Club (KL Bukit Kiara). LFL Prostheses Centre was invited to participate in the said event for one day on 26 November 2017 with the aim of creating awareness on the provision of free prostheses for the less fortunate community around the area.
